[Recipe] Kimchi Fried Rice

Fried rice is a comfort food for most of us, but each culture has their own special way of preparing it. Even between our members we have different ways of preparing this amazing dish 🙈

Although none of us are Korean 🇰🇷, because of how influential the culture is (and has gotten) across Asia and all over the world with its kdrama, kpop, kfashion & kbeauty, we can’t help but have those random cravings for kimchi fried rice 🤤


1. 2 cups of rice 2. 1 pack of Kimchi (this will comprise of the 1 cup of kimchi & 1/3 cup of its juice) 3. 2 tsp of gochujang 4. 1 tbsp of vegetable oil (if you’re not using bacon fat) 5. 2 tsp of sesame oil 6. 1 tsp of soysauce Optional ingredients: - Eggs - Bacon - Scallions - Seaweed


1. Make 2 cups of rice. When done drizzle 2 teaspoons of sesame oil and let your rice cool down while you’re preparing the other ingredients. (you can also use leftover rice but just make sure you have enough) 2. Measure out 1 cup of pre-cut kimchi (your preference) and 1/3 cup of kimchi juice. (Depending on personal preference you can choose to add more kimchi. We added an extra cup just because we LOVE kimchi). 3. Combine the kimchi juice, soya sauce, gochujang and mix until the gochujang is dissolved. 4. Stir-fry the kimchi for ~5 minutes. Your kimchi will become slightly darker in color during this time and also become more fragrant. 5. Add your rice into the stir-fried kimchi and mix until the rice is uniform in color. 6. Add your kimchi juice mix and stir fry with your rice that’s already on the pan/wok. Move onto the next step once the rice is uniform in color and clumps have been broken up. Optional steps: Kimchi fried rice can be 100% vegan, but it is usually topped with an egg, and bacon bits, scallion, and seaweed give your fried rice that extra oomph. Hope you enjoy!
